You ́ve probably realised we´ve changed our social media handle and are wondering why. Well, that name just wasn’t working for us anymore. We needed something that represented what we do, who we work with and how we feel.
Our team and services are the same. We ́ve just updated our outfit, so to speak.
We are still content focussed. We are still shouting about the power of content marketing from every rooftop that will have us. We just wanted a website and a brand that felt more “us”.
So, here we are (music starts), strutting out as The Blogging Boutique. The female led and female focussed digital content agency that we ́ve always been.
That sounds like a contradiction but let me explain.
When I started myVOA, two years ago, I had previously worked as a Senior VA in another firm. At that company, 90% of our clients were male so, even though my original intention was to provide services to support the female business community, I didn't commit 100% with my branding. Why? Because I was scared. I was scared of cutting out what could have been a large part of my potential market; business men.
The result? I tried to appeal to everyone and ended up not even appealing to myself!
As myVOA grew, I should have felt pride, but I felt disconnected. I was supporting these fabulous women in their businesses, but I wasn ́t identifying with the brand I had created for myself.
I stuck with it for a while, but then enough was enough. It was time to be brave. Now I ́ve gone all in.
We are content focussed. We are powered by women, for women and we are proud.
We don't have anything against men (my one is yummy), I just know where my passion and inspiration comes from.
The lesson re-learned?
Do you. Be brave.
It’s one that I won’t forget again and I'm grateful for the reminder.
